Sarah Wheelock to the State Court of Appeals – the first Native American to serve on the court. The seat is reserved for an appointee from the Second Congressional District, which includes Wabasha County. On the court Wheelock replaces Carol Hooten, who is retiring. As an attorney, Wheelock has represented the Shakopee Mdewakanton Community, Wheelock has taught law at the Mitchell Hamline College of Law. She has served on the White Earth Band of Chippewa Court of Appeals.
