ROCHESTER, Minn. – A nursing home attendant who pleaded guilty to administering fatal doses of morphine to a hospice patient was sentenced to 30 days of home confinement. Josephina Amaka Okeke, 57, also was put on probation for one year. The victim, a woman, had been at the facility four years. The doctor had ordered 0.5 milligrams morphine as a pain-killer every three hours, but Okeke did a dose hourly for four of five hours straight. She said it was a mistake. When she realized what she had done, Okeke admitted, she tried to alter medical logs to cover it up. This was in October 2020.
