PINE ISLAND, Minn. – Alerted to a fire by a smoke alarm, a Pine Island couple and their four kids escaped heir burning house about 1:30 a.m. When fire crews arrived, flames and heavy smoke coming from the first-story and second-story windows. There were no injuries. Firefighters remained on scene four hours. The house was destroyed, leaving Marcell and Melissa and their kids homeless. Friends took them in and started a gofundme online donation project with a goal of $50,000. Within hours $36,000 was raised.

Not much left. The house was in the 400 block of Fourth Street Southwest.
