ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota House voted 104-25 to outlaw discrimination against someone because of hairstyle. The bill, written by Esther Agbaje, D-Minneapolis, specifically protects hairstyles “including but not limited to twists, braids and locs.” The bill is called the the Crown Act — short for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.” The bill next goes to the Senate.

Verbatim

Agbaje: “At the heart of this bill is the ability to allow more people to show up as their authentic selves in school or in the workplace without fear of repercussions because of their hair.”
