ST. PAUL, Minn. – State Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that local governments in Minnesota will receive $303 million from a national opioid settlement from opioid-makers and distributors. Winona County is in line for $1.7 million for addiction prevention and to address the opioid epidemic. The money will be in county coffers by mid-year, Ellison said. The southeast Minnesota distribution:

> Olmsted County: $4.2 million

> Winona County: $1.7 million.

> Houston County: $688,000.

> Wabasha County: $688,000.

> Fillmore County: $517,000.

The City of Winona had applied for the opioid funds, but the attorney general decided that the city needs will be met through the county health department.
