MINNEAPOLIS – An Albert Lea bookkeeper for a public housing agency pleaded guilty to stealing more than $200,000 in tenant rent payments. Marcie Marie Thumann, 44, embezzled the money between 2010 and 2018 — roughly $25,000 a year. The scheme involved federal and state funding intended to remedy a low-incoming housing shortage in Albert Lea. Thumann was responsible for recording and reconciling tenant rent payments. She manipulated the agency’s computer system to avoid detection. Her plea was before U.S. Judge David S. Doty.
