WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate split 50-50 on the wide-ranging Inflation Reduction bill, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie for passage. The bill calls for massive spending, $739 billion in all, to tackle inflation, to create jobs, to reduce climate change, to cut medical expenses for many Americans, and to increase taxes on people earning more than $400,000 a year. The next goes to the House.
