LAMOILLE, Minn. – A three-mile section of combined U.S. 61-14 along the Mississippi River, which is particularly treacherous in winter, has been posted with warning flashers that are activated for hazardous conditions. The state highway department has three signs each direction. It’s the first such system in southeast Minnesota, the agency said. The stretch of 61-14 is prone to “perfect storms” created by a curve of the road, shade from the bluffs, and proximity to the river.

New driving alert. Flashers in place for icy section.
