GOODVIEW, Minn. – Presidential adviser Ivanka Trump, who also is a daughter of the president, was whisked into a suburban factory for a campaign appearance. She defended President Trump’s early initiatives against COVID, including travel bans that were unpopular abroad. “He took very early aggressive actions that were truthfully derided by many of our allies,” Trump said. Trump was accompanied by Mercedes Schlapp, a senior GOP operative adviser from Washington, who steered Ivanka Trump through predictable talking points. There was no opportunity for audience questions. About 30 people attended, seated in folding chairs on the production floor of DCM Tech, a manufacturer of rotary surface grinders. Protesters made their presence known outside the plant.
