CHASKA, Minn. – Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen called on Governor Tim Walz to ask the state education commissioner to resign. Walz, a Democrat, appointed Heather Mueller to head the state Education Department in 2021. It is Mueller’s department that contracted with the nongovernmental agency Feeding Our Future to arrange with kitchens statewide to reliver meals to needy people, including children. Feeding Our Future is now embroiled in a $250 million embezzlement scandal with government  funds. Besides Jensen’s call to fire Mueller, other Republicans also were quick to denounce the Walz administration for not acting earlier to stop the fraud. Republicans also have blamed Attorney General Keith Ellison and State Auditor Julie Blaha, both Democrats, although their role seem peripheral.
