HIDDEN HILLS, Calif. — Entertainer Kim Kardashian confirmed old news that her husband, rapper Kanye West, has mental issues. Kardashian made her statement online amid West’s 11th-hour bid to get in ballots in several states for president as an unaffiliated candidate. Said Kardashian: “I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health.” Meanwhile, the television network CNN reported that West was evaluated Monday by a doctor who decided there was no need for hospitalization. Further evaluations were pending, CNN said. Last year West spoke with interviewer David Letterman about the bipolar diagnosis and a 2016 involuntary psychiatric hold. Separately West has said he does not regularly take medication for the condition.
