MADISON, Wis. – Congressman Ron Kind, who has been elected from western Wisconsin since 1993, said he is “taking a look” at running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Ron Johnson. The seat is open in 2022. Kind, a Democrat from LaCrosse, indicated the possibility of his candidacy in an interview on a Sunday talk show with television station WKOW in Madison. Kind’s assertion was almost an aside: “We haven’t made any decisions. There’s so much going on right now. It’s all hands on deck in D.C., but down the road I’m sure we’ll be taking a look at that.” Johnson, a Republican and an avid Trump supporter, has been seen increasingly vulnerable, especially for dubious recent interpretations of what happened in the January 6 Capitol invasion. Johnson, from Oshkosh, is finishing his second term.

Kind: To the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “No decisions have been made.”
