LACRESCENT, Minn. – The principal of Logan High School in LaCrosse, Walter Gnewikow, has been appointed superintendent of the LaCrescent-Hokah district. He is being paid $148,500. As superintendent, Gnewikow replaces Mindy Crowley, who served two years. She is leaving for personal reasons. The district has 84 faculty and 1,000 students. The budget: $18.2 million. The LaCrescent School District is bounded by the Caledonia, Houston and Winona districts.

Gnewikow. Holds a graduate degree in educational leadership from Viterbo University. Earlier a high school math teacher. Age 54.
