ROCHESTER, Minn. – Three sheriffs wearing their summer-weight whites led a polar plunge fund-raiser at  Foster-Arend Park. Among 663 plungers was Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, the chief organizer. At his side were Sheriff Lon Thiele of Steele County and Sheriff Marty Kelly of Goodhue County. Yes, their teeth chattered. Temperatures were single digits. The event raised $230,000 for Special Olympics — short of a $250,00 goal but ahead of $178,000 last year.
