LEWISTON, Minn. – Consultants have recommended multi-million dollar upgrades to the Lewiston-Altura School Board. The upgrades would be funded through long-term borrowing that would require taxpayer approval. The consulting firm InGensa, based in Plymouth, proposed two bundles of projects:

 > $39.8 million. Building a new gym at the Altura grade school and remodeling the existing gym for music and band classes. Also building a new high school band space, remodeling the existing band space for choir, building three new science classrooms; building a multi-purpose space for wrestling, dance and community meetings, and adding a fine arts and common space with an auditorium, and building a new bus garage.

> $19.5 million. Building larger kindergarten classrooms and a library and public-use space at the Altura grade school and building larger science and art classrooms at the high school.

Ingensa also recommended asking voters to approve new taxes for operating costs.
