WINONA, Minn. – The official first day of spring dawned with temperatures breaking the 60-degree threshold. In Winona it was 61. Slight cooling was predicted for the week ahead despite sunny high pressure sitting over the central northern states. With all this sun, and winds increasingly out of the south, high temps will be the in mid 50. Expect lots of wind out of the south at 20 at 30 mph. The wnds, combined with warm tenpertures, will take away almost all ground snow. The risk of wildfires will rise with dry grass and shrubbery being exposed.
