ST. PAUL, Minn. – A Land Stewardship Project delegation delivered 135 signatures asking Governor Tim Walz for his attention to a Winona County fishkill in August. The petition was a response ro the toxic death of 2,500 fish in Rush Creek south of Lewiston. State agencies have failed to identify the source of the contaminant. The land-stewards want Walz to direct the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to dig deeper. Earlier, another Land-Stewardship delegation met with staff from the  pollution control agency.

But our message on was point.  We emphasized how shocking this is, how urgent it is, and Nico Bauer of the governor’s staff took us seriously.  I think we told them something they didn’t know. We left feeling mission accomplished.”
