BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, of which Saint Mary’s in Winona is a member, plans to move forward with spring sports. The schedule has conference championships for baseball, softball, tennis, golf, and outdoor track and field. The conference’s governing board, comprising all the college presidents, also approved a compacted soring schedule for winter sports that were postponed because of the Co-Vid pandemic. There will not be conference championships for these winter sports. Because of numerous game postponements and cancellations, there will be no championhip in basketball or hockey. Instead, member colleges may continue to compete beyond the usual season.
Fall sports
> Cross Country. Postooned ompetition begins March 5. Scheduling is at the discretion of each institution. No championship.
> Soccer. Postponed men’s and women’s soccer begins March 5 with a maximum of eight men’s soccer five games and women’s six. No conference champion or playoffs.
> Volleyball. Postponed season begins March 5 with a maximum of nine competition. No conference champion or playoffs.
Spring sports
> Baseball. An expanded 12-round conference season begins April 2 with mid-week and Saturday play dates set for doubleheaders and Sunday play dates dfor single nine-inning games.
> Softball. Doubleheaders begin April 3. Playoffs will May 13-16 and limited to six teams.
> Tennis. Men’s and women’s tennis begins March 5.
> Golf. Men’s and women’s golf team championships will be April 30 to May 2 at Emerald Greens in Hastings.
> Outdoor Track and Field. Men’s and women’s ] teams will transition outdoors as weather allows. Multi-event championships will be May 7-8. Full championships will be May 14-15.
