WASHINGTON – The credit-rating site WalletHub declared Minnesota the second most charitable state in the Union, less so than Utah but more than Maryland. The ranking drew on data from the World Giving Index and used 19 criteria. Minnesota’s rank among several criteria:
> 1st: Volunteer rate
> 2nd: Percentage of population who donated time
> 13th: Charities per capita
> 19th: Volunteer hours per capita
> 27th: Percentage of donated income
North Dakota was ranked 8th, Wisconsin 18th, South Dakota 20th, Iowa 41st.
