MINNEAPOLIS — A pool of more than 300 potential jurors was whittled down to 12 with three alternates over several days of a selection process for the trial of Minneapolis police office Derek Chauvin, who is White, for the video-taped killing of now-martyred Black man George Floyd. The jury is a mix of race and gender:

> Six White women.

> Three White men.

> Three Black men.

> Two multiracial women.

> One Black woman.

Seven are under 40 years old. Because emotions high, with ongoing robust and heated rhetoric and street demonstrations, the jurors will not be identified by name for their protection. They also will be shielded from public view and shuttled to and from Courtroom 1856 at the Hennepin County Government Center under armed guard. Once the trial begins, possibly sooner, the jurors will be sequestered from the public.
