ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota House voted 71-63 to defeat a bill that included funds for extra security for the murder trial of a former Minneapolis officer charged with killing George Floyd. Governor Tim Walz had proposed a $35 million fund to reimburse police agencies for costs to assure security at high profile and emotion-stirring cases like those related to the Floyd slaying.
