ST. PAUL, Minn. – A jury convicted the leader of the White Rabbit anti-government group of civil rights and hate crime violations in the 2017 bombing of a mosque in suburban Bloomington. Michael Hari, 49, was found guilty on all five counts. The charges included using explosives, damaging property because of its religious character, and obstructing the free exercise of religious beliefs. Hari faces a mandatory 35 years in prison. The pipe-bombing was in the office of the mosque’s chef cleric as worshippers gathered for early morning prayers. No one was hurt, but community members where shaken. At the trial the mosque’s executive director testified that mosque attendance fell off due to fear.
