LAKE CITY, Minn. – Several vehicles piled up in dense fog on icy Highway 63 eight miles south of Lake City. There may have been a dozen vehicles involved. Details were unclear from deputies on-scene as they tried to sort through wreckage in the fog. One driver, Tony Michael Schultz, 37, of Lake City, was injured, apparently not seriously, and taken to the Lake City hospital. Deputies said a Ford F-250 pickup, driven by Brandon Scott Bennett, 26, of Plainview, lost control and struck Schultz’s vehicle, a 2006 Honda CR-V. Bennett was unhurt. This was about 8:10 a.m. The highway connects Lake City and Rochester. It was expected to be closed the rest of the morning, deputies said.
