WAUKEGAN, Ill. – The Navy is ending its 14-day Covid quarantine of vaccinated recruits at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin. Since August new sailors have waited out the quarantin at Fort McCoy before boot camp at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station on Lake Michigan. Dropping Fort McCoy will normalize training operations as the pandemic eases, said Rear Admiral Jamie Jamie Sands III, commander at Great Lakes. Sands expressed appreciation for McCoy’s role the past eight months. Naval training would have been impaired without the 200-mile Fort McCoy detour, he said.
