WINONA, Minn. – The Winona ice-scaling park on the bluffs behind Holtzinger Lodge opened for the season after normal grooming, the city Rec Department announced. Dangerous unattached ice, called “hangfires,” have been cut away. The ice, said officials, was the best they’ve seen since the park began. Two new climbing areas are open.
