CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. – Three years after a windstorm demolished the Northern Wisconsin State Fair’s red barn coliseum, Fair officials are preparing to break ground for a replacement. Rusty Volk, the fair’s director, said work will begin in August. The projected is budgeted at $6 million, 80% of which has been raised, Volk said. Besides a new coliseum, the project includes two cattle barns, an arena and a livestock barn. The coliseum itself will be 8,000 square feet and be heated and air conditioned.
