ADVANCE, N.C. –Former Winona Daily News publisher Ron Semple has written another historical novel. “Her Morning Shadow” follows further adventures of characters in Semple’s earlier novel, “Black Tom: Terror on the Hudson.” That book won the Grundy History Award from the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy. Semple was the publisher of the Daily News from 1981 to 1985. His wife Jane was marketing director at the Daily News. They now live in Advance, N.C.
