WINONA, Minn. — A former assistant principal at the Winona High School, Dave Anderson, is returning to Winona, this time as principal of the Middle School. The School Board approved his appointment unanimously. Most recently Anderson has been principal at the Mazeppa-Zumbrota Middle and High School. There he had 31 teachers and 690 students in Grades 6-12. At the Winona Middle School he will have 36 teachers and 770 students in Grades 5-8. He plans to hit the ground running with staff members over the summer to work on positive behavioral interventions. About the summer project, he said that having staff who want to be in the building speaks volumes about their commitment.. From 2011 to 2015 he was the assistant principal at Winona Senior High School, then to Zumbrota. At the Middle School he replaces Mark Winter, who has taken a job as a high school principal in northern Minnesota. Anderson’s salary: $127,000.
