WINONA, Minn. – Concern about the especially contagious Omicron virus has people flocking to Covid testing sites. Melanie Tatge, the Winona County public health supervisor, said 250 to 500 people a day were tested at local pharmacies and clinics in the days leading up to Christmas, not counting tests at the county’s Winona Mall site for which she didn’t have up-to-date numbers. “A lot of agencies are encouraging their employees or students and families as we move into this holiday break to seek out testing before they travel or when they return after their holiday break,” Tatge said in a KWNO interview.
