ST. PAUL, Minn. – The monthly Minnesota Budget Office update showed state tax collections in January were 14.1% above projections. Economists concluded from the gain that the state’s economy was at least part way into a recovery. The total January revenue: $2.4 billion. The gains were mostly individual income tax payments, which were $214 million higher than projected. Sales tax revenues were ahead $30 million. Revenue since November has exceeded projections 3.5%.
