ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Grand Meadow man crossing the divided Highway 52 on foot near downtown was stuck by a car and critically injured. Why Joseph William Hoeft, 27, was on the right-of-way wasn’t immediately clear. He was crossing southbound lanes from east to west. The accident, about 5:30 p.m., was just south of the West Sixth Street Southwest exit. Southbound traffic was backed up for miles. The driver of the car, Iziah Antonio Grendahl, 22,  of Rochester, in a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria, wasn’t hurt.
