BRICE PRAIRIE, Wis. – Vice President Mike Pence sat down at a table set up inside a barn at John Schaller’s 400-cow Morning Star dairy farm and proclaimed himself right at home. He reminded everyone that he was an Indiana farm boy. Then he got down to business. Pence said the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement would benefit the slumping Wisconsin farm economy. Pence skipped specifics but told farmers to expect more revenue. The Trump Administration’s U.S.-Mex-Canada deal will put Wisconsin farmers on a more even playing field with neighboring countries, he said. The Brice Prairie roundtable gathering, just north of LaCrosse on Mississippi valley tableland, was small. The farmers asked questions and related concerns about the agreement and also the national environment for agriculture in general.
