ST. PAUL, Minn. – Police Chief Todd Axtell expressed dismay, also disappointment, at State Representative John Thompson’s allegations of police racism in a traffic stop. Axtell said the police sergeant who made the post-midnight stop was participating in a Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety detail. The stop, Axtell said, was as simple and straight forward as that. The chief said he had reviewed the sergeant’s dashcam video. Thompson, needs to apologize, Axtell said.
