WABASHA, Minn. – Authorities thwarted a kidnap report that began with a call to the 911 police dispatcher in Wabasha. Sheriff Rodney Bartsh said a man reported his daughter had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom. Bartsch said the man reported being ordered to go to the Walmart store 30 miles away in Winona and wire the ransom. Alerted to the Wabasha call, Winona police found the daughter and concluded she was safe and under no threat.
