WINONA, Minn.—Police tackled a Winona man as he raced through his house and, according to the pursuing officers, gabbed a rifle from a closet. Arrested was Michael David Kronebusch, 46. This was about 1:05 a.m. – a couple hours after police received a report of domestic assault in the 400 block of Sarnia Street. Witnesses said that Kronebusch had punched a woman on the shoulder and back. At the place, police spotted picture of Kronebusch posing with a gun the day before. The officers recognized Kronebusch from a previous felony case and knew he was barred legally from possessing firearms. Officers said they drove to Kronebusch’s place to question him. They gave this account: Kronebusch, who was outside, ran into inside. Officers pursued him and saw that he was attempting to get a long gun from a closet. They tackled him and wrestled the gun away. In the tussle, Kronesbusch explained he was resisting arrest because he didn’t want to go back to jail. Police took Kronebusch to the hospital for a broken collar bone and a cut on an arm from a vase that had shattered on the floor. The apprehending officers were bruises but not otherwise uninjured. The abuse victim, with whom the whole episode began, suffered minor injuries that didn’t require medical attention.
