ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol placed a trooper on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted into why he discharged a firearm that perhaps wounded the active shooter at an apartment house in Albert Lea. Such leaves are routine in officer-involved shootings. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will conduct the investigation, the Patrol said. When interviews and the investigation are complete, the Bureau will provide its findings to the Freeborn County attorney in Albert Lea.
