WINONA, Minn. – The Winona School Board member from the East End, Allison Quam, said she won’t seek a second term. Quam’s four years has been marked by difficult issues: The closing of several grade schools, budget shortfalls, and the departure of the district superintendent. About her own departing, Quam said: “I am grateful to those who shared with kindness and empathy their perspectives. I am grateful to those who accept that dissent does not mean disloyalty and that disagreement should lead to compromise.” Quam is a librarian at Winona State University. A primary election will be Aug. 11, if more than one person seeks Quam’s seat. The general election will be Nov. 3.
