WINONA, Minn. – The American String Quartet, known for its matched set of Stradivarius instruments, will perform Tuesday at the Beethoven Festival at Saint Mary’s University. The quartet, formed 47 years ago in New York, has performed the complete quartets of Beethoven, Schubert, Schoenberg, Bartok and Mozart in all 50 states and in important concert halls worldwide. In recent years the Quartet has collaborated with authors Salman Rushie and Phil Klay, poet Tom Sleigh and film composer Paul Cantelon to combine music and readings.
