WINONA, Minn. – David H. Lueck, 88, of Winona, who became a music educator for generations of school children after a military career that include the rank of major general, died a home. eck. He graduated from Winona High School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Winona State University. He began his 42-year distinguished military career in the enlisted ranks He was was commissioned during the Korean war. He retired in 1922 as commanding General of the 47th and then the 34th Infantry Division. As a musician, hewon two consecutive National Sousaphone Championships in high school and performed professionally in dance bands. In his pospost-military career he taught instrumental music, directing concert and marching bands at Alma, Cochrane and Cotter high schools before settling into his elementary band director role at Winona schools.
