CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — James Phillip Bambenek, 77, of Chillicothe, an Army infantry officer who commanded the 544th Heavy Equipment Maintenance Company in Wabasha, Minnesota, died at a hospital after an extended illness. Before his Wabasha duty he had assignments in the Vietnam war. He was a1973 graduate of Winona the State University. In Ohio he owned 15 NAPA auto parts stores. In 2009 m was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce. In 2014 he was honored for infantry service with the Order of St. Maurice medal.
