ROCHESTER, Minn. — Listener-supported rock ‘n’ roll station KRPR needs to replace its transmitter but doesn’t have enough money. Program director Brian Taylor called for listener donations. The pandemic has slowed the station’s usual fundraising inflow, he said. In this era of music streaming, he said, many people don’t realize that expensive hardware is needed for broadcasting. He called the current transmitter super old: “It’s hard to maintain. It’s becoming increasingly unreliable and possibly unsafe.”
