OSHKOSH, Wis. –A frontline worker with a history of allergies had a severe reaction to the Moderns CoVid vaccine, but doctors said the situation was uncommon and shouldn’t scare most people about taking the vaccine. Charity Bratz, 21, a patient service representative at a Walgreens drug store, had had a long-term allergy to food high in nickel, including leafy greens, soy, wheat and anything in a can. She has had 38 previous reactions. This time, she felt a familiar thickening in her throat five minutes after the inoculation. Fifteen minutes later her throat started to close off. She couldn’t talk. She had trouble breathing and communicating. In an emergency room, she was given epinephrine. The symptoms abated. Despite the scare, Bratz encouraged people to ahead and get an inoculation. “But,” she cautioned, “be prepared if you do react.” In her case, she won’t take a booster.
