ST.PAUL, Minn. – Going into the final five weeks of the governor campaign, incumbent Democrat Tim Walz has $3.2 million on hand. Republican challenger Scott Jensen has $916,000 left. There has been a surge in Jensen’s fund-raising however. Jensen reported $1.8 million coming in during the latest two-month reporting period. In the same period Walz had $1.7 million. In all, Jensen has had total of $4.2 million for the whole cycle since January — a record, according to his campaign, for a Minnesota GOP gubernatorial candidate. Tim Pawlenty had $3.3 million in 2006. For the whole cycle Walz has had $4.4 million.
Attorney general
Democratic Attorney General Keith Ellison reported $923,000 cash on hand after raising $996,000 this year. Republican challenger Jim Schultz reported $775,000 this year with $321,000 left.
Secretary of state
Democratic Secretary of State Steve Simon reported $967,000 in cash on hand after raising $799,000 this year. Republican challenger Kim Crockett reported $286,000 thus year with $119,000 left.
State auditor
Democratic State Auditor Julie Blaha reported $75,000 cash on hand after raising $197,000 thus year. Republican challenger Ryan Wilson reported $351,000 this year with $162,000 left.
