VASA, Minn. – A Red Wing man escaped with his life when he went off the road, struck a culvert, rolled, and then smashed into a telephone pole. Roger Thomas, 74, was taken 40 miles to a Rochester hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident was about 1:25 p.m. on Highway 19 near Vasa, which is six miles southwest of Red Wing. Deputies said the pavement was dry. Thomas was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala.
