ROLLINGSTONE, Minn. – A three-year local project to restore the now-shuttered Rollingstone school is ready for the next step – taking applications. Dick Gaffron, who has led the project, said the target is to offer K-5 classes next fall. Applications will be accepted starting in February, Gaffron told radio station KWNO. He expects 50 students. The school was shut down by the Winona School Board in 2018 for budget reasons. Since then Rollingstone students have been bused to Winona. Gaffron said there will be an open house at the old school October 30, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Four teachers who used to teach at the school are setting up their old classrooms for the open house, Gaffron said.
