HASTINGS, Minn. – Deputies took a 38-year-old man into custody at a rural house after an unusual situation in which they thought someone might be firing shots at them. A “standoff”? Who knows. It began around 10 p.m. with a 911 hang-up call. Deputies responded and spoke with a man at the address. The man, Brian Lusk, didn’t appear to be a threat to himself or others, deputies said. But around 10:30 they heard what appeared to be a gunshot. Over the next hour deputies continued to hear gunshots. At the time. said Sheriff Tim Leslie, it seemed the shots were being fired at the deputies. No injuries were reported. About 3 a.m. Lusk came out of the house holding a rifle and was arrested.

Lusk. What charges will he face? Dakota County prosecutor pondering what to do.
