EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Midwestern Pet Foods recalled specific expiration dates of certain dog and cat food brands. The brands: CanineX, Earthborn Holistic, Meridian Pro Pac, Pro Pac Ultimates, Sportmix, Sportmix Wholesomes, Sportstrail, Unrefined, and Venture. The suspect pet foods, produced at the company’s Monmouth, Illinois, may be contaminated with the odorless, tasteless bacteria salmonella. Pets can die. So can people who handle the pet food. Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Midwest had an ealier recall in January
