NODINE, Minn. – A woman shopping online for a chihuahua puppy was scammed out of $350. She told deputies she had been in contact with a purveyor who claimed to be with a chihuahua rescue and transport organization. The woman said she was asked to buy a $353 gift card, to photograph the card, and send it. It turned out, deputies said, that the scammer’s address was an empty lot in Davenport, Iowa. The woman, age 64, who lives on County Road 16, called sheriff’s deputies about 5:45 p.m.
