WINONA, Minn. – A three-term veteran of the Winona School Board, Steve Schild, will not seek re-election in November. Schild said his decision was unrelated to massive school board resignation nationwide. “I am not resigning,” he said. “I’ll serve the rest of my term trying to do what I’ve tried to do for the past 11-plus years, which is to advocate as best as I can for what I believe to be best for public education and the people and communities it serves.” The national resignation phenomenon, from which Schild separated his decision, is a result of citizen harassment of School Boards orchestrated by radical right ideologues. On the Winona School Board he represents West Side neighborhoods.

Schild. Reputation on School Board as informed, thought-through and articulate. Also a poet and retired Saint Mary’s University journalism prof.
