ST. PAUL, Minn. – A public safety bill with police reform provisions has been hammered out in the Legislature, leaders of both parties in the Senate and House said. Provisions regulate the use of no-knock warrants. Also the bill creates a database to track police misconduct so bad cops can’t just keep moving from one jurisdiction to another. Details were not released pending work on detailed legislative language on the bill. Broad terms of the agreement were reached a day after former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced for the death of George Floyd, which stirred passions nationally on police accountability.
